For the past year or so my husband and I have been working on finishing our basement. Before these pictures were taken we had the cement dug up so that plumbing could be run for the bathroom and a future bar area. We had the heating and cooling done. We added a backup sump pump with an alarm. We had the studs installed. We had electrical run and finally we bought sound protecting insullation that we stuffed up into the ceiling to help lessen any transfer of sound between our main floor and our basement. Each and every process we’ve gone through with this basement was a headache and alot of hard work. Even the work we hired out was a headache because dealing with contractors can be a pain. Many times they were late, didn’t show up, weren’t prepared or wanted to skate by with as little as possible. I will say our electrical contractor was amazing and if anyone in Michigan needs a referral I will gladly provide his information. Anyway, here are some before and after pictures so far of the studs up, and then after with the drywall hung. Keep in mind the mudders and tapers are still working on the space so don’t judge it too harshly yet 🙂

And there you have it! A million pictures later and you’ve pretty much seen every view of my basement. I’m very happy with the layout. I think the archways we put in add ALOT to the homey-ness (yes it’s a word lol). I can’t WAIT to see the flooring down which should be installed around Thanksgiving sometime. The drywall company we hired is still in the process of sanding all the completed mud/tape that was done and it looks even further along now that I did when I took these pictures a few days ago. I hope you enjoyed and keep coming back to check on our progress 🙂
